Fractions to Percentage Review

For the students too shy to ask questions in class, here's a quick review about how to convert Fractions into Percentage.

1) Take lollipops again for an example of a Fraction

Click on picture for an example of a Fraction

2) There are 3 Red Lollipops out of 9 Lollipops in TOTAL. What chance in percentage I would pick a Red Lollipop out of the bag?

Step 1:
Divide the Numerator with the Denominator
- Use the online calculator if you need to

3 ÷ 9 = ____

Step 2:
Multiply Step 1s answer by 100
- the reason for this is to find the answer out of 100 percent

0.3 x 100 = ___

Step 3:
Your answer!
- make sure you write the % sign or your answer will still be wrong!

33%

Step 4:
The sentence
“There is a 33% chance I would pick a Red Lollipop out of the bag”

That's all for now, see you next time and thanks for dropping by.
